Thomas Booth, Director of Engineering

Dr. Booth joined Advanced Turbine Design in 2008.

He is also on the faculty at the University of Southern California in the department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, teaching courses in quality management and project management.
Previously, Dr. Booth was Director of Balancing Processes at Honeywell Turbocharging Technologies. During his tenure, he led the development of an advanced high-speed balancing machine to reduce residual unbalance levels and opened a balancing Center of Excellence in Bucharest.

Earlier Honeywell experience included management positions within the AiResearch/Allied Signal organizations including Director of Engineering at the turbocharger division, and managing the advanced aerodynamics analysis and the turbine aerodynamics departments at the engine division. Achievements included institutionalizing 3D design/analysis techniques and managing the development of advanced turbine designs such as the TFE 1042, F109, and the AGT 101 (ceramic turbine for automotive).

Prior to his Honeywell experience, Dr. Booth developed an advanced 3D boundary layer code for turbine secondary flows at Detroit Diesel Allison (currently Rolls Royce) and concepts to control transducer degradation at Bell Telephone Laboratories.

He has served as the national president of the Society of Concurrent Engineering and as the Phoenix section chairman of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

He received a PhD in Engineering Sciences from Purdue University, specializing in the aerodynamics of unsteady flows.
